Today is Earth Day, and to celebrate, we thought we'd share this great 4-minute video to help inspire you to make a simple change that can save both your health, and the environment! Who doesn't want that?
It's simple. As a society, our affluence has led to a huge evolution in the way we eat. We used to eat meat sparingly because it was expensive and much less abundant. But now... well, just look around next time you're in a restaurant. Our diets are very protein-heavy, and the quality of industrially produced meat is far different from what it used to be. Did you know a sensible portion of meat is around 3 ounces (about the size and thickness of your palm)? When was the last time you saw anything less than a 6 or 8 ounce "petite" steak on the menu? It's ridiculous, nobody needs a 21 ounce steak, or a half-pound burger, and ultimately it's taking a heavy toll on the health of our people, and our planet!
The message in this video is simple: moderation. We're not suggesting you become a vegetarian. We love a good burger as much as you. Just be mindful of the frequency and volume of your consumption, and perhaps skip the meat a couple of days per week. Your health with benefit. Your bank account will benefit. And if everyone did it, we'd all be contributing to a much more sustainable environment.
